Red-necked Stints

9 May 2004 Today I went watching bird at Bang Pu again . Low tide in the morning , I found
26 Red-necked Stints on the mudflat . Although they are a very common winter visitor of vicinity of the Thai Gulf ,I rarely find them here because this area have no man-made wetlands such as salt- pan or shallow pond for resting and foraging when the mudflats are flooded by sea .I always find them at other places of the vicinity of Thai gulf such as Khok Kham , Rangchan , Paktalea etc because there are many salt-pans in these places. I think that these Red-necked Stints may come from other places under the Thai gulf , may be other countries. They may stop here for a few days , resting and feeding before headed to the north along the East - Asia flyway.
